Strange noises. If you turn on your air conditioner and hear strange noises such as screeching, rattling or buzzing–noises that you know don’t regularly come out of your air conditioner–there’s a high likelihood that your unit sustained storm damage. Superior Air technicians will check if there’s loose debris in your unit and then remove any they find. If left unattended, your unit may start overheating and then fail.

Air conditioner isn’t turning on. If you experience a power outage during the storm and then find that your air conditioner isn’t turning on after the electricity comes back on, there’s a great chance that your air conditioner is damaged. In this case, your capacitor could be damaged, fuses could be blown or the wires may be burnt. If this happens to your unit, we can help you determine the problem and repair the unit for you. We can also help you schedule air conditioning maintenance to keep your unit working.

Inadequate cooling. If your air conditioner isn’t cooling your home the way it used to before the storm, your unit is damaged. You may be dealing with damaged AC motors or clogged condenser coils. The problem could also be caused by the unit’s refrigerant line leaking. This issue will make your electric bills skyrocket. Before it gets too bad, however, we as your technicians will help you fix major damage to the system.

Standing water near the outdoor unit. Your outdoor unit shouldn’t be submerged in water for long periods of time. If this does happen, there’s a high chance that the electrical components inside your unit will be damaged. A problem like this, when left alone, will lead to costly repairs or even a possible replacement.

A burning smell. If you start to notice the smell of something burning coming from your air conditioner, this indicates an electrical issue such as a short circuit or damaged electrical motor. If you notice this problem, turn your air conditioner off immediately and contact us for urgent repairs. Make certain not to turn your air conditioner back on.

As your HVAC technicians, your safety and comfort is our top priority. If you’ve experienced severe storms in your area lately or are in need of an air conditioner installation, don’t hesitate to call Superior Air.
